    REMOTE

REMOTE. North of Timbuktu in an isolated piece of the desert lies the centuries old, Festival au Désert. This annual music festival in Mali features Tuareg music as well as music from all corners of the globe. The festival has attracted big names like Robert Plant and Manu Chau. The Sahel, camels, breathtaking music, create an unforgettable experience.

The storied Festival will be held from February 20-22 in Oursi, Burkina Faso  this year due to Islamic militants who have taken over the north of Mali. Additionally, the Festival au Désert will travel as a "Caravan of Artists for Peace and National Unity", giving performances at the Festival on the Niger in Ségou and the Festival of Mali in Bamako. Let 11.7 take you there to support the musicians, the dedicated organizers and brave Malian people who keep on keeping on.

    FELUCCA

FELUCCA. A traditional wooden sailing boat is a calm way to experience the banks of the Nile River in Egypt. Egypt has a gentle southern wind pushing sailboats upriver, whilst also allowing the sailboat to return on its downstream. Travel the river streams in the same style as the pharaohs with the ancient technology of the felucca.

    SEYCHELLES TORTOISE

SEYCHELLES TORTOISE. This giant was thought to be driven to extinction 120 years ago. In 1997 it was confirmed that this "extinct" tortoise lives on in the 115-island chain of Seychelles.

Giant tortoises were common on the islands in the Western Indian Ocean until colonization began in the 1600s, where settlers removed and killed the tortoises in alarming numbers. Now, this species is part of a highly successful conservation program by the Nature Protection Trust of Seychelles.

Go check out these giants while basking in the sun on a romantic secluded island with your loved one, or of course you could just live the slow life with a giant tortoise by your side.

    FUFU.

FUFU. Looking to add some fufu into your life?

All you have to do is boil some cassava and then pound it until it reaches a nice doughy consistency...or just buy fufu flour if you can find it in your local marketplace.

I assure you, it is unlikely that it will taste as good as when you eat it in Liberia, where you can pair your fufu with palm butter, pepper soup, or palava sauce.

    Yum.

Let 11.7 help you find the best fufu in town.

    TSINGY.

TSINGY. In Malagasy, Tsingy translates to "where one cannot walk barefoot." This geological wonder is the result of groundwater cutting thorough limestone to form caverns and fissures. The Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park has bridges and walkways that allow visitors to climb to the top of small tsingy’s. In order to climb to the higher pinnacles ropes and climbing equipment are necessary. A ferry and a four-wheel drive vehicle from the Baobab lined streets of Morondava will land you in the center of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. 11.7 can help you plan your venture to the land of Tsingy’s so your not caught barefoot in this other worldy terrain.
