    MY STINT IN AFRICA

MY STINT IN AFRICA. During the last visit to my grandparent’s home, I found my grandpa’s journal from WWII. I’m an aficionado of old books, so this was quite the find. With my grandma’s permission, I stayed up until about 4AM reading his “Stint in the Service.”

It got me to thinking about how we record our travel. Nowadays, technology can practically capture it all. We can even share it instantly via social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. And while I think there is a great value to these technological developments, it made me yearn for simpler times when you put a pen to paper.

So I’m making an effort on my current trip to South Africa and Kenya to do a bit of both. To write in a Moleskin Journal as well as share snippets along the way via social media. Who knows, maybe someone in my family will one day find my trip journals; and if not, I’m sure they can just google them.
